Scouts Community Challenge Badge – Service Opportunity

Scouts

Our two annual opportunities to accrue hours towards the service element on the Community Challenge badge appear in December.

The first is the day before Christingle Church Parade on Saturday 5th December at 9:30am with the annual St James Church leaf sweep and gutter clean. We need a willing troop of volunteers (the more the merrier) to help gather all the leaves that have dropped onto the courtyard and walkways and to also ensure the gutters and drains are clear. Please come dressed for the conditions (no uniform) with gardening gloves, strong rubber gloves and any tools or wheelbarrows you may have and don’t worry if you don’t have any, spares will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

The second event is the annual Voluntary Care Group Christmas concert at St James on Wednesday 9th December. This is a full uniform event where our we assist with duties of handing out and collecting back the service sheets, the bucket collection at the end of the service and waiter duites with mince pies and mulled wine afterwards in the hall and once again, refreshments will be provided. You will need to be at the church from 6pm, the service starting at 6:30 with a likely end of service of 7:30 – 7:45. The refresments in the hall should complete around 8:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.
