Our Beaver Scouts need YOU!

We have a fantastic opportunity for some Adults to join in the fun and assist us with the continued running of our two Beaver Scout Colonies on a Friday.

In order to keep running such a fantastic programme we do need some additional help and support. We are actively seeking two Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders to provide valuable support to our Beaver Scout Leader.

Mad Professors blow up volcanoes!

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
Beavers

20081017 Scientific BeaversThe mad professors in white coats came along to do some really cool experiments with the Beavers this week.

The Beavers kicked off by testing the strength of eggs by crushing them with monstrous amounts of heavy books. Eggtastic! Then they experimented with mixing alkaline and acidic potions just like in a weird laboratory.

Afterwards the HQ was awash with flaming lava flowing across the floor and plumes of choking smoke spiralling up as Mount Etna erupted (well sort of…). The professors showed everyone how to make some real exploding volcanoes for themselves :-) !! It’s amazing how much fun you can have with home made play-dough, food colouring, vinegar and bicarb of soda. Simply Awesome.

Have a look through the photos to see more of what we got up to.

A huge thanks to the Mad Professor family for coming along and wowing the Beavers.

Beavers Summer Newsletter May 08

Beavers

Dear Beaver Parents,

Here is the revised summer program for Beavers this term. I have had to cancel the meeting on Friday 4th of July as I am away, and all the Cub and Scout leadership will be on Borough Camp. If you had signed up to help on that evening maybe you could help on another evening?

You may also notice that the last evening is invitation only. I thought that it would be a good idea to reward the Beavers who achieved one or more of the following: attending St Georges Day Parade, attending a Church parade or having a parent who volunteered to help. If you have any difficulties with this then please contact me or see me on a Friday evening.

Regards Jane

They warmed up with some football and stuck in the mud then moved onto some stretching and jumping!

Take a look at the photos to see the Beavers in action! Where do they get their energy?

Many Thanks to Claire for giving up her time to spend a double session with both Colonies!

Hampton Hill Christmas Parade

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007
Beavers Cubs

As ever the annual Hampton Hill Christmas Parade was a major hit … despite the awful weather!

“Marc really enjoyed the parade, despite the weather. He must have weighed 4lbs more when he came home, in his drenched sweatshirt.

Not one layer under the sweatshirt was wet, owing to his waterproof jacket under the uniform sweatshirt. He was on such a high when he got home.”

3HH Beavers at Centenary Camp

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007
Beavers

World Scout Jamboree 2007 logo OK! So camp leader Paul and Akela Belinda beat me to it. But i can’t let this go without supplying my own ‘Beavers on centenary camp’ update.

It was four days into camp for me when the Beavers arrived, full of energy and enthusiasm, guess I was already running on adrenalin by then!

3HH Beavers at Centenary Camp

To kick off the evening a quick game of rounders was closely followed by dinner. 3HH were lucky enough to have our own hut, so we disappeared and laid out our beds – 7 to a dorm with a mix of girls and boys in each.

We joined back up with the other Beavers and went on a torch walk (not really dark enough) but kids and torches – say no more they love it.
