Hampton Hill Summer Festival July 2011
Please come and see us and help us raise funds for the Group.
If you want to make/donate cakes please bring them to the Scout Hall on Friday evening from 7pm or on Saturday morning from around 10am when we will be setting up on the Recreation Ground.
If you can spare an hour we would also appreciate any help with setting up (from 10am), running the stall from 12 noon and taking the stall down (late afternoon). Thanks.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Cubs Easter ‘James Bond’ Camp Photos
Monday, May 30th, 2011Sorry folks for the delay but we’ve finally managed to load up the photos from the Cubs’ fabulous James Bond camp held during the Easter holidays.
Feel free to browse the photos! (Note that these have been loaded in a low resolution format – if you’d like a high quality version of any particular photo, and are connected with 3HH Scouts, please email one of the section leaders to request.)
Cub Camp – WELL DONE!
Thursday, April 21st, 2011
Hi Cubs – WOW – what a great camp we had, but it went so quickly! We’ve all clocked up another 4 nights away and 1 or 2 hikes that will go towards the staged badges, a few of those to be handed out to Snowdon Cubs when we go back, I’m sure Wend will have to do some too.
You were all awesome at the activities, especially the aerial trek – I almost had to turn back on the long beam – half of you just ran across!!! We’ve got loads of photos, as soon as I have all of them from the people that took them I’ll sort through and get them up on the 3HH Website. (update: the photos can be found at this link)
As always, please do let us know any feedback, it’s always welcome. I think the big thing for a lot of you was not being able to sleep in tents, sadly we didn’t get the site we wanted and it just wasn’t practical this time.
Thanks again to all the adults and young leaders that were there for some or all of it, Wend, Linda, Chris, Andy, Fidelma, Ali, Andy, Fiona, Charlie and Lucy. Also Julia and Amy who chipped in well above the call of duty. Finally a huge thanks to Jane for keeping us all well fed and watered and to Diana for being our home contact.
Cheers, see you all soon.

Also, we are now taking Orders for more Groupwear items. See the letter for details 3HH_ClothingLetterFeb2011. These items are invaluable on Camps and many other activities and Section Meetings. Please ask your Section Leader for an Order Form. All Orders must be placed by the end of February.
Tesco and Sainsbury’s Voucher Schemes
Monday, February 7th, 2011Once again both Sainsbury’s and Tesco have started their voucher schemes ‘Active Kids’ and ‘Schools and Clubs’ and this year your Scout group is registered for both. These are excellent schemes which in previous years have supplied the group with tents, cooking and camping equipment along with games and activity bits and pieces as well, so by donating your vouchers you’ll be helping to keep your subs and camp costs lower as we use these schemes to replace tired equipment.
There are two boxes in the HQ by the kitchen hatch, one for each supermarket so relieve those bulging wallets and purses of all those unwanted vouchers and help your group both get the kit it needs and save your cash!
Cubs Spring 2011 Programme
Thursday, January 20th, 2011
See attached the Cubs programme for this term, it’s Fitness Challenge and Athlete badges this term and we’ve got LOADS of stuff lined up. But remember, to earn your badges you really need to make it to Cubs as much as possible, especially for the challenge badges as these are the ones that ultimately count towards your Chief Scout Silver Award.
There are some early notifications for other events coming up in 2011, make sure you get these on the calendar and as always, please make a note of the Church Parades and try to make at least one of them!!
On a couple of evenings (9th Feb and 15th March) we’ll need some extra help to assist with activities, if you think your Mum, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Gran – anyone – would like to help then give them a nudge in my direction…
As usual we’ve got a couple of joint nights lined up so we get together with our chums in Nevis pack, Monday 14th Feb and Wednesday 13th April.
And finally, don’t forget James Bond Easter Camp 16th to 20th April. I’ve had a few replies for this already so if you want to come then get your names down quick!

3rd Hampton Hill are 2010 District Cub Swim Champions
Friday, December 3rd, 2010Wow, what an amazing achievement!
There was great camaraderie between the swim squad of Dom, Ollie, Max, Chad & Jamie. They all deserve a huge ‘pat on the back’. The boys swam beautifully, and were wonderfully well behaved. It was an absolute pleasure for Julia and I to be there too. The boys were so supportive of each other – cheering all the way!
Many, many congratulations to them all.
3rd Hampton Hill are now the proud owners of a beautiful, huge shield. Thanks again to everyone involved.

Monday, June 21st, 2010Pirates of the Caribbean – Cubs Easter Camp
Thursday, April 15th, 2010Hello Pirate Campers!
After all the worries of crummy weather we probably couldn’t have actually done much better, maybe a bit warmer at night perhaps?? Waking up to blue sky after blue sky was brilliant, let’s hope it’s a good sign for the rest of the year.
We’d like to say a MASSIVE thank you and well done to all of you Cubs for making the camp such a success as usual. We did some pretty challenging stuff this time like the aerial trek and the zipwire, but you all turned on the 3HH ‘can-do’ attitude and put all the worries behind you. But it’s not just the activities; you’re always there to help with setting things up, keeping the place tidy, WASHING UP and generally being useful. As a result we didn’t do a ‘Top Cub’ award, you each have your own strengths and you simply do your best all the time in whichever way you can.
A HUGE thank you also goes out to Jane for taking the lead on the cooking duties and to all the other support – adults Sarah, David, Linda, Andy, Claire and Fiona, young leaders Sam, Will and Ruth, our young-young leader Katie and our home contact Diana. Finally, thank you also to all the parents that took the trip out to Downe to deliver and collect your Cubs, especially for being on time on Sunday!!!
Superhero Summer Camp is being planned for August 4th to August 8th, and hopefully lots of you can come. If there are any parents out there that think they might like to come along for a few nights under canvas, some late nights, woodsmoke, singing and a whole lot of fun then let us know, these things can be arranged!
Of particular note, there were some FANTASTIC cakes that arrived on the first day, they were very much appreciated (especially the rock buns with raspberry jam in the middle – the Cub that brought those can DEFINITELY come on camp again!!!)
Cheers everyone, thanks again and see you all soon.

Cubs Swimming Gala
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009On 16th October a merry band of dolphins fish took to the waves and competed against the rest of Richmond District Cubs. In a watery battle of widths and lengths and following the gradual improvement over the past few years, from finishing 13th, then 12th, then 8th last year, I was hoping for a tremendous 4th. But alas …
Why stop at 4th when you can achieve joint 2nd
Well done to all, that’s an absolutely fabulous result.
(More details to follow when I know exactly who came where and in what!)

Cubs win the “Ian Goddard” Challenge
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009
Well done to all the cubs who attended the Ian Goddard Challenge this weekend at Walton Firs. We’ve finally won that elusive trophy. The winning team scored a massive 38 out of 40 points.
All events like these go hand in hand with willing adults. Many thanks to Fiona J, Sara H, Jon H and Andy W.
Well done guys and girls.

Cubs Summer Term Programme
Friday, May 1st, 2009Hi Cubs
Here’s the outline programme for the Summer Term.
Please note the request to bring in a plastic bottle on Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th May and as always, if any parents out there can occasionally spare a couple of hours then please do let us know.
Snowdon Cubs Summer Term – Important
Monday, April 20th, 2009Hi Everyone
First night back will be this Wednesday, please note that we may be meeting on the Rec as there are one or two tents (seventeen actually!) drying out in the hut from Scout camp and it’s very important we get these dry as we’ll be using in a few weeks time for CubJam…
Anyway, we’ve got a busy term lined up, CubJam in May, Twickeree in June plus lots of exciting stuff for Wednesday nights.
Final reminder, this Sunday – 26th April – St George’s Day parade. If you can make it then we’re meeting on Richmond Green at 10:40 with pick up from Orleans School Hall at 12:45 to 13:00 approx. If any adults out there have a thing for fluorescent yellow and would like to assist with marshalling on the day then please do let me know, vests will be supplied!
Cheers everyone, Jon
