Pirates of the Caribbean – Cubs Easter Camp
Thursday, April 15th, 2010Hello Pirate Campers!
After all the worries of crummy weather we probably couldn’t have actually done much better, maybe a bit warmer at night perhaps?? Waking up to blue sky after blue sky was brilliant, let’s hope it’s a good sign for the rest of the year.
We’d like to say a MASSIVE thank you and well done to all of you Cubs for making the camp such a success as usual. We did some pretty challenging stuff this time like the aerial trek and the zipwire, but you all turned on the 3HH ‘can-do’ attitude and put all the worries behind you. But it’s not just the activities; you’re always there to help with setting things up, keeping the place tidy, WASHING UP and generally being useful. As a result we didn’t do a ‘Top Cub’ award, you each have your own strengths and you simply do your best all the time in whichever way you can.
A HUGE thank you also goes out to Jane for taking the lead on the cooking duties and to all the other support – adults Sarah, David, Linda, Andy, Claire and Fiona, young leaders Sam, Will and Ruth, our young-young leader Katie and our home contact Diana. Finally, thank you also to all the parents that took the trip out to Downe to deliver and collect your Cubs, especially for being on time on Sunday!!!
Superhero Summer Camp is being planned for August 4th to August 8th, and hopefully lots of you can come. If there are any parents out there that think they might like to come along for a few nights under canvas, some late nights, woodsmoke, singing and a whole lot of fun then let us know, these things can be arranged!
Of particular note, there were some FANTASTIC cakes that arrived on the first day, they were very much appreciated (especially the rock buns with raspberry jam in the middle – the Cub that brought those can DEFINITELY come on camp again!!!)
Cheers everyone, thanks again and see you all soon.

Cubs Swimming Gala
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009On 16th October a merry band of dolphins fish took to the waves and competed against the rest of Richmond District Cubs. In a watery battle of widths and lengths and following the gradual improvement over the past few years, from finishing 13th, then 12th, then 8th last year, I was hoping for a tremendous 4th. But alas …
Why stop at 4th when you can achieve joint 2nd
Well done to all, that’s an absolutely fabulous result.
(More details to follow when I know exactly who came where and in what!)

Snowdon Cubs Summer Term – Important
Monday, April 20th, 2009Hi Everyone
First night back will be this Wednesday, please note that we may be meeting on the Rec as there are one or two tents (seventeen actually!) drying out in the hut from Scout camp and it’s very important we get these dry as we’ll be using in a few weeks time for CubJam…
Anyway, we’ve got a busy term lined up, CubJam in May, Twickeree in June plus lots of exciting stuff for Wednesday nights.
Final reminder, this Sunday – 26th April – St George’s Day parade. If you can make it then we’re meeting on Richmond Green at 10:40 with pick up from Orleans School Hall at 12:45 to 13:00 approx. If any adults out there have a thing for fluorescent yellow and would like to assist with marshalling on the day then please do let me know, vests will be supplied!
Cheers everyone, Jon

Cubs Swimming Gala – 17 October
Monday, October 6th, 2008Hi Everyone. What is it with this term…stuff never seems to stop happening!! Please see attached details of Cubs district swimming gala from Sara H:
Last year’s cub swimming gala was fantastic, with 3HH putting in a fine team performance. Looking for keen swimmers of all ages and abilities to take part.
There are races for two ages groups, with width and length distance. We need a lot of cubs to be able to take part in every race so please join in. (We had 7 cubs last year which meant we missed a race, and some cubs had to make super human efforts in several races. 10 would be better, and more fantastic). There are heats then finals which makes a minimum of 13 races – last year it was 19 !
We’re also seeking parents to help on the evening – Fiona (poolside champion in charge last year) has kindly agreed to run the evening, but she will need help. Salim (our secret parental swimming expert) has also offered coaching if anyone would like this, and can find a venue.
Attached details for your information. I am happy to co-ordinate, with Fiona in charge on the night. Do please let us know as early as possible so I can reply on Friday 10th with our entry. Details of preferred distance and stroke appreciated.
Many thanks Sara
Ian Goddard Challenge
Sunday, October 5th, 2008
The annual Ian Goddard Challenge for cubs was this year held at the Stockyard, Bushy Park. Despite the fog looking a bit weird at times, everyone had a fabulous time!
Overall it wasn’t our finest result in the final rankings, but well done to all the participants for giving it their very best effort. 3HH ran the fire lighting base for everyone to try their hand at. The Cubs also had the chance to try some kayaking and canoeing on The River Thames in Hampton.
CubJam 2009
Friday, August 1st, 2008Hi Cubs
In 2009 3rd Hampton Hill Cubs are planning on going to CUBJAM. This is a Cubs only Jamboree held every 4 years, this time at the Scouting World Headquarters in Gilwell Park. There will be about 2,000 Cubs on site and the theme for the whole event is “CARNIVAL”. There will be three different carnival sub-camps, Notting Hill, New Orleans and Rio De Janeiro. We’re currently assigned to New Orleans, but this may change.
The dates are Saturday 23rd to Friday 29th May 2009, basically the May half term week.
We’ll be putting out full details of the camp in September, but for anyone wanting to take a sneaky peek, have a look at the CubJam website.
Cubs Summer Camp 2008
Thursday, July 31st, 20083HH cubs go camping “Hawaiian Style” maxing and relaxing at Chalfont Heights.
36 Cubs, 5 Scouts, 2 Explorers and 14 assorted Leaders and Adults had a wicked 4 nights getting up to all sorts and having loads of fun. That must be a record….???
It’s best said with pictures so check out what the cubs, and assisting scouts, got up to on camp, just click on the picture above. More pics to follow soon!
Remember to wear your camp scarves at the hut next term…
Cubs End of Term News
Monday, July 21st, 2008Hi Everyone
That’s it now until September, I hope you all enjoyed the summer term as much as we did.
THANK YOU as well to all the people that have helped out over the last year at all the events and camps we’ve had. From running teams at district events and supporting us on camps, to simply bringing your Cubs down to the hut every week on time and smartly turned out, it all adds up to give an AMAZING result.
We would also like to recognise and say a big THANK YOU to Rich Moody, our Group Scout Leader. For those that don’t know, he’s the guy that keeps us all on track (and occasionally keeps us in line!), looks after our interests within the district and the county and does a HUGE amount of co-ordination and organisation behind the scenes on our behalf.
We’ll be saying cheerio to some of our Cubs over the summer, THANK YOU for all your energy and enthusiasm. We wish you all the best with Scouts.
Summer campers – will see you all on Saturday 26th.
First nights back in the Autumn will be Monday 15th and Wednesday September 17th for games, new Sixers & Seconders and hopefully welcoming some new Beavers. See you all then.
Cheers all, have the most BRILLIANT holidays!!
