3HH Group Don't Miss!

Wow! Another year is nearing its end. It has been a busy and successful year for 3rd Hampton Hill. The highlight for many being the fantastic trip to Kandersteg in the Summer. Once again all the Sections have enjoyed a wonderful and engaging programme of meetings, events and actvities.

I would like to say a very BIG THANKS to the Leadership Teams and Group Executive at 3HH for all their hard work this year.

2012 is shaping up to be another busy year. We are moving forward with plans for our Scout HQ Extension, Quiz Night in March, Section Camps are being planned, we have our Family Camp in May at Walton Firs, and also Twickeree the tri-annual District Camp in Marble Hill Park, Twickenham in June. It is also the Queens Jubilee and the Olympics which I am sure will feature in Section Programmes as well. We have opportunities for adult involvement in Leadership and suporting roles. We are specifically looking to recruit more Help with Cubs and Beavers.

I wish you all a very happy, relaxed and enjoyable Christmas. Best wishes for a wonderful 2012!

I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!

Kindest regards and best wishes

Hampton Hill Christmas Parade – tonight

Friday, November 25th, 2011
3HH Group

Don’t forget that we will be taking part in the Annual Hampton Hill Christmas Parade again this year – tonight!

This year the parade starts at 730pm from Network House near Rising Sun Pub and Pantile Bridge (i.e. from the opposite end to normal). The Parade is also One-Way only. We will therefore stop at the Traffic Lights by Park road and Pickup will be from the Plumbing Supplies Shop just off Park Road.

The High St will close to traffic from 630pm with the parade starting at 7.30 pm from a new starting point, near the Rising Sun. The parade will go in one direction only which will mean a shorter parade which will help get the little ones out of the cold and give our older visitors more time to enjoy the post parade entertainment.

Shameless Plug for a Super Local Trader!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011
3HH Group

All, when you’re watching the fireworks at Scouts this week, don’t forget to thank Richard Newman who makes such an effort to produce such a watchable display of pyrotechnics as well as making his own donation to the cause. The major contributor to the display however is Danny at TAPS Newsagents in Hampton Hill High St, who year after year suffers us turning up on his doorstep and twisting his arm for donations and discounts. Year after year after we’ve knocked him down and general abused his good nature he disappears into his storeroom and reappears with an armful of extras that really ensures our display goes with a bang.

So, shameless plug – let’s all support our local traders and especially Danny at Taps, a local fireworks retailer who knows his stock well and can give excellent advice on what will work well for you.

Danny you’re a star, thanks very much!

Want to get involved? (Flexible Volunteering at 3HH)

Sunday, October 9th, 2011
3HH Group Don't Miss!

Come and join in . . .
We currently have opportunities for adults to get involved and join in at Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We are actively seeking extra pairs of hands to support all our Sections so we can continue to provide a fantastic programme of actvities. This could be just once a month as an occiasional helper, joining us on activities such as camps, or perhaps more regular help as a Sectional Assistant.

Your time, Your Choice
Volunteering for Scouting gives you the chance to try different actvities, visit new places and learn and share new skills. You can decide how much or how little time you wish to give and how you spend that time. Prior experience or a connection with Scouting is not necessary.

You can make a difference
You can make a positive difference to the lives of Young People. From achery to canoeing, camping to drama, young people get the opportunity to try new things, explore their talents, develop their values and beliefs and make the most out of life.

Why Volunteer?
You will;
Have fun and feel rewarded
Learn new skills
Make new friends
Have chance to gain externally recognised qualifications
Make a difference and give something back to your community

Please come and chat to any of the Leadership Teams, send email to 3rdhamptonhill@richmond-scouts.org.uk or send us an Enquiry to find out more. We look forward to hearing from you.

3HH Group Kandersteg 2011

Hello All!

I am writing this a bit later than usual as I was ‘pleasantly’ delayed by a trip away . . . our Fantastic Group Trip to Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland! :)

What a trip! We have lots of pictures to show and stories to tell which we are pulling together and will share with you in the autumn. A Big Thanks to all the adults and especially to Wend (& Family) and Chris for all their hard work. Thanks also to all the scouts for getting stuck in and handling the tiring journey home. Well done all.

Wishing you all a very happy, enjoyable and restful Summer. Safe travels and happy holidays.

Kindest regards,

Rich

Family Camp ‘Big Adventure’ 2011

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
3HH Group

Last weekend saw yet another immensely successful family camp take place at Walton Firs campsite. It was brilliant to have so many people join us for an extended weekend of adventure. Archery, caving, shooting, sports and climbing were all on offer … as well as some great food and company. Well done and we hope to see you all again soon sharing some more adventure and fun!

Thanks masses to all those who made it possible in some many different ways – and most especially, thanks to Mark for taking on the job of camp leader for the weekend.

We’ve posted those photos that we have been able to gather so far. However if you took some over the weekend and would like to share them with us, please do pass them along! :-)

3HH Shooting Competition – victims of our own success?

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011
3HH Group

OK, so let’s start with the apology, we overran a little bit past our 4pm finish time, well quite a bit actually this caused by equipment failure and a rash of late entries which took us well over our ideal of 30 entrants per session. If you gave up and didn’t get to shoot we’re all really sorry and have already changed things for the next time we run to ensure we have no repeat.

So let’s look at the bright side and the results in what was otherwise a really successful day with well over 40 shooters partaking in pistol, rifle, field target and knockout competitions. All medals in the junior competition went to 3HH shooters and well done Ella L for taking overall gold. Andrew O won the knockout and retained his position as top knockout junior having won the event last year; how does he do it? In the senior competition I’m afraid to say the spoils kind of went to the 3HH shooting instructors but I’m pleased to say that a couple of parent’s names snuck in to the top three and next year I’m thinking we’ll have an elite category for the rifle and pistol at least.

So well done all and thanks to the team that supported the event and ensured it ran smoothly, the results are here – results.

Sainsburys and Tesco Voucher Schemes

Sunday, May 8th, 2011
3HH Group Don't Miss!

Both Sainsburys and Tescos voucher schemes are closing soon, with Sainsbury’s stopping giving out vouchers as of 31st May and Tesco having stopped this weekend.

Please ensure that all vouchers are returned to the collecting boxes at the HQ as soon as possible so we can place our orders in a timely fashion. Every year we have run this exceptionally valuable free scheme a large number of vouchers go unused as they appear after we have completed our one-time-only order and once the order is placed, we cannot even bank any excess vouchers for the following year.

Many thanks all.

Paul

Tesco and Sainsbury’s Voucher Schemes

Monday, February 7th, 2011
3HH Group Beavers Cubs Explorers Scouts

Once again both Sainsbury’s and Tesco have started their voucher schemes ‘Active Kids’ and ‘Schools and Clubs’ and this year your Scout group is registered for both. These are excellent schemes which in previous years have supplied the group with tents, cooking and camping equipment along with games and activity bits and pieces as well, so by donating your vouchers you’ll be helping to keep your subs and camp costs lower as we use these schemes to replace tired equipment.

There are two boxes in the HQ by the kitchen hatch, one for each supermarket so relieve those bulging wallets and purses of all those unwanted vouchers and help your group both get the kit it needs and save your cash!

Not quite the olympic stadium, but exciting building plans are brewing

Monday, January 24th, 2011
3HH Group

You might be interested to hear about the latest installment in 3HH’s ongoing growth and development. After so much success in purchasing essential new kit we now find ourselves in the happy position of struggling to accomodate it all.

So with the fantastic assistance of one of the Scout parents, who is also rather conveniently an architect, we’ve started to plan out an extension to our existing building.

And of course, if there are any building firms, material suppliers, electricians, willing hands etc out there who would like to donate anything towards to the project, we’d be thrilled to hear from you! ;-)

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Thursday, January 13th, 2011
3HH Group

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for another busy and exciting year at 3HH!

We are firming up plans for our Family Camp in May 2011 at Walton Firs. Please watch here for updates and for letters coming out with more details. We are also making plans for our Quiz Night in March. Again, watch the Web Page and for details via Section Meetings. And of course we are now counting down to our Big Trip to Kandersteg in the Summer.

During the break the 3HH Team worked hard to clear, rationalise, reorganise and sort The Office, Meeting Room and Hall Store at the Scout HQ. A big thanks to all involved.

As usual all the Sections have a fantastic programme planned for the Term.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Regards,

Rich M
