3HH Group Beavers Cubs Explorers Scouts

All, as usual we’ll be collecting these vouchers as this superb scheme saves us money in being able to order sports, games and camping equipment and it doesn’t even cost us postage! Please do collect your vouchers and post them in the box in the HQ. What would be really great is if you can batch them up with rubber bands, adding a note of the number of vouchers enclosed as this will save us hours of counting. Please do get these in before the closing date (to be advised) though as every year we waste quite a number of vouchers as they come in after we’ve been forced to place our order. Many thanks in advance and just remember, every voucher donated helps to keep your subs down!

Calling all Hands! 3HH Spring Clean & Maintenance weekend 2nd – 3rd March 2013

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013
3HH Group

To All at 3HH
Spring Cleaning and Maintenance at 3HH on Sat 2nd and Sun 3 March 2013.
With the camping season getting close and hopefully better weather on the way now is the time for us to undertake a Spring Clean.
We are very fortunate to have a wonderful HQ and to own lots of kit and from time to time we need to undertake a clean & tidy of both the HQ and all our equipment.
Please can you spare us an hour or two over the weekend of 2nd – 3rd March 2013?
If every family gave just an hour each we would achieve a great deal and be very thankful.
The Days will run as follows;
Start at 1000 run through till about 1230 for a lunch stop. Resume about 1330 till about 1630.
Please RSVP (saying which day(s) and times you can help) via Section Leaders so we have an idea of who can help when (times) and which day(s).
The sorts of jobs we hope to do (subject to the weather) are;
Maintenance Activities on our Camping gear – simple repairs, checking kit, sorting & sharpening pegs and generally getting ready for Camping!
Simple Jobs around the HQ – general clearing, removal of clutter, cleaning and tidying throughout with possibly some other simple maintenance jobs as well.
Please wear old clothes, suitable footwear (i.e. hike boots or similar if you have them) and if you have them suitable work gloves.
Members of the 3HH Team will be on hand to co-ordinate/guide/manage/supervise and assist over the two days.
We will supply Tea, Coffee, Hot Choc, Soft Drinks and Biscuits.
(We also hope to offer Hot Dogs for those with us during the lunch period).
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on one or both days.
Very Many Thanks.
Regards,
Rich Moody

3rd Hampton Hill and Hampton Explorer Scouts Sweep the Board

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012
3HH Group

2011 saw our greatest championships with many successes including team pistol and rifle champions and overall junior champions; never could we surpass such success, well definitely not two years running anyway…. Or could we? Well we definitely fielded our strongest ever Explorer team this year 2012, so whilst we hoped for success there we expected a quiet year for our Scout troop as our previous successful team were now in Explorers. So a wet weekend and variable sounding results over the weekend took us to the Sunday results. (more…)

Hello All

I am writing this a little later than normal having spent some time at Scout Camp (‘Come to Tolmers’) last week.
We were blessed with dry weather (thank goodness) and a very busy and active camp.

I would like to say a BIG THANKS to the Leadership Teams and Executive Commitee at 3HH for all their hard work, support and for making 3HH such an active and successful Group. Fantastic! :)

I hope you all have a fantastic summer – hopefully finding some Sun somewhere and also enjoying the Olympics.

Happy Holidays and safe travels.

See you all in the Autumn.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012
3HH Group Beavers Cubs Scouts

Well it’s been a bit of a quieter year for the Sainsbury’s Active Kids voucher scheme this time round. I don’t know whether it’s been the weather stopping us from going shopping, competition from the schools or people varying their shopping habits, however we still managed to collect some 1755 vouchers. As this is around half of what we usually collect, we’re going to bank them all this time round, saving them up for next year where we can put them towards a bigger order. Many thanks for all your returns and if you’re collecting Tesco vouchers, that scheme is still running so please get them to us.

Twickeree (Tri-Annual) District Camp 22nd-24th June 2012 – Invitation Letter

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012
3HH Group

Twickeree has been held in the unique setting of Marble Hill Park since 1935, although it has taken various forms, most participants will know it as a weekend where all the Scout Groups in the District gather together for fun and some friendly rivalry. It allows the youngsters to see that there is bigger organisation beyond the Scout Hut doors and that they have many friends across the Borough. For some it is the one camp they are allowed to go to because its close by. For Leaders it is a great opportunity to share ideas, build confidence and make new friends. For Group Scout Leaders it can be an opportunity to get the parent helper enthused about taking on a larger role. It is a chance for all of us to show the public what Scouting is providing in the District. Our best advert is to see the young people having fun camping.
Please provide your completed forms and payment by not later than 1st June 2012.
Information and Forms are here;

St George’s Day Parade 2012

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012
3HH Group

As you can see from the pictures, our own Rich Moody was presented with the Silver Acorn award by the County Commissioner Ian Newbery at this year’s St Georges Day Parade. The announcement of the award was greeted with much appreciation by all of 3HH (yes, in other words we made a whole load of noise much to Rich’s embarrassment)!
.
20120422 St George's Day 2012-007
.
The Silver Acorn is an award in recognition of especially distinguished service and was first introduced as a St. Georges Day Award in 1933. It is not normally awarded until after at least the Award for Merit (for Outstanding Service) has been gained and a further five years’ service has been completed. It is therefore seldom awarded for less than 20 years’ service.
.
The citation reads: Silver Acorn Awarded to Richard Moody 23 April 2012 by the Chief Scout Bear Grylls. Nominated Member to The Scout Association Council, Group Scout Leader (3rdHampton Hill), Training Advisor (Richmond-Upon-Thames) and formerly holder of multiple Leadership Roles at 3rd Hampton Hill since 1988 (Assistant Scout Leader, Venture Scout Leader and Assistant Group Scout Leader), International Service Team Member for EuroJam 2005 and World Scout Jamboree 2007 Delivery Team (Off-Site Programme – ‘Splash!’).
.
On speaking with other leaders and parents after presentation of his award Rich said:
“This is a reflection on the whole Group and the fantastic Team of all the adults at 3rd Hampton Hill. It is very nice to be recognised and acknowledged for what you do. It is the great team of committed and enthusiastic people around me here that contribute to the continuing success of providing quality, enjoyable scouting.”
