New Minibus Unveiled

Sunday, March 8th, 2009
3HH Group

3rd Hampton Hill Scout Group (3HH) and Hampton Hill Junior School (HHJS) celebrated the delivery of their brand new Peugeot Boxer 17-seater minibus, which they jointly own.

20090308 New Minibus The Scout Group’s Leaders and parents, and the School’s Parents’ Association, have worked very hard over the past few years with various fundraising events, with a view to buying a newer, second-hand minibus to replace their ageing L-registered one. But when the Scout Group successfully applied to Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity for a grant to add to the monies raised, they realised that they would be able to buy a brand new one, complete with wheelchair access, and with their own specifications for carrying luggage on camping excursions and school trips. 3HH then searched for just the right vehicle, consulting with the School all the way along.

3HH Group Scout Leader Richard Moody said:

“It’s fantastic. I know that Bill Jerman, Head Teacher at HHJS, joins me in thanking all those involved. We’re very grateful to the Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity for the financial support they have given to us. Sharing the minibus with the School is a brilliant use of resources. We share the purchase and running costs. The School use it during the school day, and we use it after school, at weekends and holidays. It’s a great partnership.”

Shiny New Minibus Delivered!

Friday, February 20th, 2009
3HH Group

Our brand new silver Peugeot Boxer 17-seater minibus, which we jointly own with Hampton Hill Junior School (HHJS), has arrived.

20090217 New 3HH Minibus Although we’d been planning to replace our dilapidated L-reg minibus at some stage, we brought this forward since we felt it simply wasn’t going to last much longer. After discussion with HHJS, who we share the bus with, we decided to move quickly and found a replacement second-hand minibus.

As we have major refurbishment projects coming up at 3HH’s HQ which will take a lot of our reserves, we really needed to get external funding to supplement our contribution. We approached Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity (HFAC) who had so generously given a grant towards the building of our HQ more than 10 years ago. HFAC were hugely supportive and recognising what a good use of resources it was to have a shared minibus, asked us to look into the costs of a new minibus instead.

3HH Grows Again!

Saturday, January 24th, 2009
3HH Group

We have just completed the annual census and have grown year on year once again! This year the total group membership stands at 156 plus 5 Young Leaders who are reported separately.

This is fantastic news. However, there are still great opportunities for more adults to get involved at 3rd Hampton Hill: either as occaisional helpers, members of the Group Executive Committee or more specific roles. It is vital that we continue to recruit and retain more adults in a range of roles to support the Group and to ensure we continue to provide good quality Scouting for all the Members.

We are especially keen to fill two key roles: Assistant Beaver Scout Leader(s) and Group Booking Secretary. Please contact any Section Leader or get in touch via the enquiry form on the web page if you would like to get involved and join in the fun, challenge and adventure! We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you.

Regards,

Rich M
Group Scout Leader

End of Term and Year Message to All – Happy Holidays

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
3HH Group

All the Sections have enjoyed yet another fantastic and varied programme. There have also been successes and achievements in District, County and National Events – well done all. As well as personal awards and recognition for service and commitment. 2008 has been a great and very memorable year for the Group and we continue to live up to our Motto of ‘Moving On, Moving Up!’ Just take a trawl back through some of the earlier web posts to see how much we have achieved this term and for the whole year.

I would like to say a very Big THANKS to ALL The Section Leadership Teams, Group Executive Committee and everyone that has supported us both this term and for the year. Everyone at 3rd Hampton Hill are volunteers who freely give up their time to help Young People enjoy Scouting and develop skills for life.

Our two highest priorities for early in the New Year are the recruitment of Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders and a Booking Secretary.

Planning is underway for a couple of big camps next year: CubJam in May at Gilwell Park and Twickeree at Marble Hill Park in June. We are also in the early stages of planning an International Trip in 2011! There is an initial interest sign up sheet posted up at the Scout HQ.

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous and healthy 2009. I am certain that 2009 will be another fantastic year for Scouting at 3rd Hampton Hill.

I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Kindest regards and very best wishes.

Yours in Scouting and friendship

Rich M
Group Scout Leader
