3rd Hampton Hill (St. James) Scout Group
Registered Charity Number : 303816
Registered Scout Group Number : 27686
Group Scarf Colours : Old Gold and Tan
Wow! Another year – Again we grow and continue to thrive. In fact, the group is even bigger as this does not include the fantastic support and help from our energetic Young Leaders and Hampton Explorer Scout Unit. Our numbers (total Group size) for January 2008 stand at 149. We think its very likely that we will top 150 in January 2009 as we have just opened our 2nd Scout Troop (November 2008).
This growth presents a number of challenges but also increased opportunities.
All Sections continue to enjoy a very active and varied programme - both weekly and extra curricular opportunities, activities and events all of which help to develop our young people and adult leadership.
2007 was a very busy and exciting year for everyone as we celebrated 100 years of Scouting. Many of the Group made a day visit to the World Scout Jamboree which was held at Hylands Park, near Chelmsford in Essex. A wonderful opportunity to meet with 40,000 Scouts from around the World!
3HH were well represented; Andy W as a participant in a Troop Contingent from Greater London South West (Scout County). Why not have a chat with Andy about all his preparations and truly memorable experiences throughout the Jamboree. We also had several Leaders sharing their knowledge as part of the International Service Team (IST).
A highlight of 2007 was The District Centenary Celebration Camp at Phasels Wood. A fantastic camp packed with activities and off-site day trips. 3HH turned out in force and were the largest Group attending from the District.
2008 is another busy year for 3rd Hampton Hill as it is our official Diamond (60th) Anniversary. We celebrated in style in May at our Family Camp at Walton Firs with Fireworks and again in July at a Diamond Anniversary Celebration Event with a BBQ & Big Birthday Cake!
Please get in touch (using the enquiry form) if you were once a Member of the Group we would love to hear from you.

How does 3HH run?
We rely fully on volunteers. These volunteers then attend training and then hold specific appointments (roles). Our Leaders are assisted and supported by Section Assistants and a Group Executive Committee who are often parents. All adults who help with the group also have to be CRB cleared. This is an important step to ensure we safeguard the young people in our care.
Our Executive Committee meet every 6 weeks, led by our Group Scout Leader and Chair person, with reports from the Section Leaders and the Treasurer, we also discuss fundraising, maintenance, cleaning, hall hire, and projects to develop the headquarters, etc. We aim to have an AGM and Group Review every year in May. This looks back at all our achievements and also looks forward on our plans for the coming year.
We are extremely lucky at 3rd Hampton Hill as we have a fantastic leadership team who are motivated and enthusiastic. We are always looking for new ideas and help, if you would like to join us please contact us via the enquiry page. We are run solely by volunteers and always need that extra input and support that only parents can provide. Parents are always welcome to come and help, even just once a term as a much needed extra pair of eyes and hands in the hall. Please contact any Section Leader if you think you might be able to lend a hand.
Funding
To continue running the excellent diverse programme of events and activities (programme) and to maintain both our Scout premises and Equipment we need funding. This comes from subs and fundraising. If you would like to help us with our fund raising efforts then please read more!
How much does it cost? The subs are £35 per term or £100 per year, (to qualify for the annual rate subs must be paid in the September preceding the year). There is a £ 20 initial joining fee and a £ 20 Sectional Transfer fee.
Membership to the entire Scout Movement is fully inclusive, so if money is the only issue stopping you from joining us, please contact us and arrangements could be made.

Notes: Venture Scout Units were changed to become Explorer Scout Units in 2003 and were no longer directly attached to Groups. Figures do not include Young Leaders and Support from Hampton Explorer Scout Unit who are covered under District Annual Returns. We have at least 6 Young Leaders providing excellent help and support with all Sections.
Annual Census for January 2008
The figures have just been compiled and we now have a total Group membership of 149, a small increase of 4 on last years figures.
> Beavers 36
> Cubs 54

Perhaps we can top a Group Size of 150 in January 2009? Watch this space!
