shelterboxOn Saturday 23rd May 2009 ShelterBox is inviting Scouts from around the country to take on the challenge of the ShelterBox Scavenger Hunt. This is a day out in London, accompanied by CRB’d 3HH adults, where we’ll meet lots of other Scouts and have heaps of fun discovering stuff in the City. We’ll also use this day out towards our Global Challenge badge.

There’s no cost to attend other than getting a one day travel card for the train.

All the info you need is in the attached information file. But if you’d like to come please let me know soonest so that I can register some teams; either fill in the form or better still just drop me an email.

More success and achievement – The Jack Petchey Achievement Award

Another member of 3rd Hampton Hill Scout Group has been recognised for their achievements and successes:

Alex L has been awarded the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Award.

This award has been given based on a recommendation made by the Group detailing Alex’s enthusiasm, sustained attendance, commitment, help and service to others.

Born in 1925 and brought up in the East End of London. He was a Scout and holds the Silver Acorn. He received the OBE in 2004 in recognition of his contribution to young people. He established the Jack Petchey Foundation in 1999 and gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11 – 25.

The Group has received a cheque from the Foundation which will be spend on items and suggestions given by Alex.

Reminder! Voluntary Care Group Christmas Concert

Voluntary Care Group Christmas concert – Once again, the Scouts will be assisting the Hampton and Hampton Hill VCG with their community carol service at St James Church on Wednesday 12th December from approximately 6 – 8.30pm. We’ll be taking the collection, serving refreshments (including mince pies) and as usual attendance will go towards your Community Challenge badge service requirement.

All the above will qualify you to receive an invitation to our final evening’s skating at Hampton Court Ice Rink on Friday 14th December.

Cubs visit gurdwara Sri Singh Sabh in Hounslow

Hi Everyone

First of all, it must be said that you guys and gals were on top form on Monday at the Gurdwara, Wend and I were totally impressed by everyone. So a big THANK YOU for being on best behavior and showing just how great 3HH Cubs are.

I had a great time, I hope you all did too, it was certainly very interesting and the Chapatis and Dhal was lovely……

A couple of points that I thought stood out were that the attitude and beliefs of the Sikh faith are pretty much the same as our own and others and similar to the aims of the Cub Scout law and promise. For example, respecting each other and looking after our things. Being kind and helpful. Treating each other equally and fairly. Sharing and giving (especially food!).
