Scouts

Hi guys, I’d like to say what a pleasure it was to see you all Sunday morning keen and raring for the fray despite the horrible weather :) You all played like beings possesed !! Despite being drawn against one of the better practised teams in the first round you rallied and played as a well rehearsed team from then on and acheived a very well deserved 3rd place!

There were silky skills in attack, cheeky and ferocious goals shared throughout the team, good passing and distribution in midfield, tenacious, terrier like defending, and solid and acrobatic goalkeeping. A wonderful effort which was exciting to watch.

Well done all of you, and thank you for playing that extra game at the end. Their leader said that despite their scoreline they enjoyed their two games against us best of all. A credit to your sportsmanship!

Our thanks to Clare for organising our entry, to Ann for shivering bravely on the touchline, to Paul for not refereeing :) ) and to all you parents who gave such wonderfully biased support :)

Sharp Shooting Success for 3HH Scouts **Update**

Friday, March 19th, 2010
Scouts

sc-as-maatar3rd Hampton Hill Scouts have enjoyed a whole raft of successes recently on the shooting front at various competitions. Last night we completed our annual YPS course with all students passing with at least a skilled shot rating.

At the Kingston competition a few weeks ago our team took best troop and group pistol, best troop and group rifle with a large number of individual Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners. We didn’t leave much for Kingston I’m afraid; I did wonder if they’d invite us back, but they’ll have to if they want their trophies back!

The Richmond competition was held recently and we entered teams from both Talons and Claws. Claws kicked off with an excellent team score of 610 which proved to be unbeatable all week even by Explorer or adult teams, so well done to Will H, Lily (116), Jacob, Tom (118) and James H and Jamie S. Talons didn’t disgrace themselves with an excellent 3rd place so well done to Matt, Lucy, Ruth and Emily, Isaac and Will W.

The inter-county competition was held on the weekend of 20th and 21st March and three current or former 3HH members represented Greater London South West, Jacob and Sam H and Tate (brother of Annie in Claws).

At this point I’ll hand over to our start reporter Rob (Sam and Jacob’s dad): (more…)

sc-as-hiA terrific but cold evening greeted 42 Scout teams from across Greater London South West to the annual County Night Hike around Box Hill, five of which were from 3rd Hampton Hill. Our teams were:

Clones – Eddy F and Rosie J leading Ella, Annie, Lily and James H
Talons 1 – Rhiannon and Will H leading Becky, Joss, Lewis and Henry
Talons 2 – Ben M and James R leading Matt, Josh, Tom and Jack M
Talons 3 – Ruth and Will W leading Lucy, Owain, Isac and Monish
Claws – Chris and Jamie leading Jack S, Jonathon, George W and George M

Paul F, Simon, John, Sarah, Paul C and Dave M were manning base 5 and were really pleased as the evening wore on to see all five of our teams successfully to and through our base, with Ruth’s team being the only ones all night to score a maximum 25 on our mega-bagatelle.

Scouts Cooking Competition – Saturday 6th December

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008
Scouts

Scouts, if you’d like to take part in this event, which we are past winners of, please see the attached rules and regs. In short you’ll need to get a team of up to four together (no more than one PL and one APL per team), select a menu as guided by the rules, preferably prepare the meal with your team as a trial in advance and then do it all for real on the day.

Please read the rules carefully so you understand what you need to do, for example compiling a list of kit you’ll need from the 3HH campstore and from home, as well as ensuring receipts for your shopping are taken with you on the day. If you’d like to do this then please get a team together and return the attached form to me ASAP.

Please note, collection of equipment from 3HH and transport to and from the event will have to be carried out by Scout parents as the leadership team and rest of the troop will be at the St James Church leaf sweep that day.

20081018 National Scout Air Championships 2008 The event was held at the world centre of smallbore shooting in Bisley, Surrey on the 18th and 19th October 2008 and ended up with rewards beyond all expectation. Our team of 12 Scouts, one Young Leader and seven adults took part in the standard disciplines of 6-yard rifle and pistol along with the knockout competition and the challenging field target against an entry of over 700 Scouts.

Along with this our team members also took part in the optional small and full-bore shooting, own pistol and rifle competitions and the biathlon involving running and shooting; two activities that are not usually associated.

Victory at Richmond District Scouts Sports Competition … Next stop Beijing?

Friday, June 13th, 2008
Scouts

Eight talented 3HH scouts competed in the District Scouts Sports at Kingsmeadow Stadium. It was a brilliant evening; the weather was warm and sunny and we all had a fantastic time. 3HH dominated many of the track events, and also did very well in the field events.

Presentations were made to all those athletes who came first in their events. Then we waited expectantly for the overall results. Our 12+U’s: Will, James, Robin and Archie came 2nd. Our 14+U’s: Elliott, Mark, Tate and Alex came 1st. And overall 3HH WON for the first time ever!!! Well done everyone and Maccy D’s all round I think.

Thanks to Steve Mason (minibus driver and wellie lob organiser) and Fiona Jones (starter).

Massive thanks to Sarah H and Laura T for looking after the teams during the afternoon.

Ready Steady Cook!

Monday, January 21st, 2008
Scouts

The annual Ready Steady Cook challenge took place with the Guides in December.

The Scout Hall was packed with budding Chefs and Cooks waiting to see what they could conjure up with their ingredients.

Ingredients are ‘won’ and picked by each team in rounds. Each round there is a question with a numeric answer, the team nearest that answer picks first from the table of ingredients. On each round there is a different sort or type of ingredient, meat, starch (pasta, potatoes etc.), veg, etc. plus other additions of spices and herbs.

All the creations were very edible and some were really pretty good! A team of tasters gave marks out of ten for taste and for presentation.
