We hope that you had an awesome Christmas, ate far too many sweets and are now looking forward to getting back to school / homework this week… ;-)

Just in case you were wondering our first nights back will be Tuesday 10th / Friday 13th January. There’s a ton of stuff organised for this term and we know that you’ll have a blast. Our first night back will be the usual games, sorting out patrols and grabbing a chance to chat about the term’s programme.

If youa re keen to know what we’ll be up to this term you check out the attached.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week and in the meanwhile, good luck with ironing your uniforms. Let’s see if everyone can make a real effort to come along in proper scout shirt, scarf and trousers … perhaps even with all your badges sewn on! (just in case you aren’t sure where the badges go you can check here)

All the best!

sheep on a hillWe’ve posted the fantastic Beavers spring 2011 programme for this coming. We’re doing loads of fab stuff this term.

cu-as-atSee attached the Cubs programme for this term, it’s Fitness Challenge and Athlete badges this term and we’ve got LOADS of stuff lined up. But remember, to earn your badges you really need to make it to Cubs as much as possible, especially for the challenge badges as these are the ones that ultimately count towards your Chief Scout Silver Award.

There are some early notifications for other events coming up in 2011, make sure you get these on the calendar and as always, please make a note of the Church Parades and try to make at least one of them!!

On a couple of evenings (9th Feb and 15th March) we’ll need some extra help to assist with activities, if you think your Mum, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Gran – anyone – would like to help then give them a nudge in my direction…

As usual we’ve got a couple of joint nights lined up so we get together with our chums in Nevis pack, Monday 14th Feb and Wednesday 13th April.

And finally, don’t forget James Bond Easter Camp 16th to 20th April. I’ve had a few replies for this already so if you want to come then get your names down quick!

Welcome back to Friday Talons Scouts

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009
Scouts

Hi there Scouts,

We hope that you’ve all had awesome summer holidays … most likely driving your parents mad :-) And now it’s almost time to start Scouts once again after the long break. So just as a quick reminder we meet again for the new term on Friday 11 September at 7.30 pm.

On the first night back, we’ll have the usual games, talk about the term’s programme and promote the new PLs and APLs. We’ll save all the details for then so as to not spoil the surprise. But just to give you some warning, our second night back on 18 Sept will be swimming at Hampton Pool. You’ll need to be there for 7pm with £2.90 per person please. At the swimming as well as have a monster splash, we’ll be picking teams for the District Swimming Gala as well as helping some of you achieve your next staged swimming badge.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Regards
Paul, Simon and the whole of the Talons Leadership Team

Snowdon Cubs Summer Term – Important

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Cubs

Hi Everyone

First night back will be this Wednesday, please note that we may be meeting on the Rec as there are one or two tents (seventeen actually!) drying out in the hut from Scout camp and it’s very important we get these dry as we’ll be using in a few weeks time for CubJam…

Anyway, we’ve got a busy term lined up, CubJam in May, Twickeree in June plus lots of exciting stuff for Wednesday nights.

Final reminder, this Sunday – 26th April – St George’s Day parade. If you can make it then we’re meeting on Richmond Green at 10:40 with pick up from Orleans School Hall at 12:45 to 13:00 approx. If any adults out there have a thing for fluorescent yellow and would like to assist with marshalling on the day then please do let me know, vests will be supplied!

Cheers everyone, Jon

Talons Troop Programme Planning

Scouts

After telling us they wanted more involvement in the Troop programme planning, the Talons had a crack at thinking up some future activities tonight. Some top notch ideas were suggested.

Why not click on the picture below to see what sort of things they thought of?

Of course, some of these ideas might be tricker than others to incorporate into the programme – but we’ll do our best!

Next Friday 24th October and on

Friday, October 17th, 2008
Scouts

Hi all, just a quick reminder on the programme for the next few weeks:

* Next Friday we’re swimming at Hampton Pool, between 7 and 9pm. This will be a swimming gala selection session, swimming staged badge session or just a fun swim for those that want. The cost is no more than £3.

* The following Friday 31st October is half term and therefore no Scouts

* Friday 7th November will be our first night in the split troop format, although will be a joint evening of fires and fireworks at the HQ. Please bring what you want to cook.

As for the swimming gala, we need a team of minimum six Scouts to see if we can retain the trophy. Of necessity the team must comprise of 3 x “12 and unders” and 3 x “14 and unders” so all Scouts are welcome to trial. We’ll also need a parent or two to assist at both the gala and at the practice evening if possible. Please see attached info.

We’ll be meeting in the very near future to decide and confirm the two troops and will advise everyone soon after where they’ll be. Early indications are that everyone will end up on their preferred evening.

Air Rifle Shooting at Twickenham Friday 17th October

Friday, October 10th, 2008
Scouts

Hi all, as indicated by email, here is the information required for all Scouts going to our troop evening at Twickenham Rifle and Pistol Club. You’ll need to take with you on the evening a completed Permission Form and £3. You’ll also need to make your own way there and a MAP is attached.

Scout Troop – Autumn Term Programme and Activity Letters

Friday, September 12th, 2008
Scouts

Hi all, please find attached the autumn term programme. All information is in the letters so I won’t go into details here except to highlight our Troop split discussion evening (letter attached) for all parents on Friday 26th September where we’ll be serving refreshments with monies raised going to Christian Aid.

For those taking part in the National Scout Air Rifle Championships (practice starting on Thursday 18th September), please find attached the information letter and permission to shoot form required by all.

Dayprowl is on Sunday 5th October and as such there’s very little time to get your application in for this day hike with the focus on fun. We had a lot of interest from the Scouts for this one so please download the form and return ASAP.

The forms for the swimming gala and cooking competition will follow in due course as will information about the Sikh temple visit.

Breaking News… Scouts to split Troop

Friday, July 18th, 2008
Scouts

Hi all, just before we break up for the summer, we thought you’d like to know about some incredibly important and exciting breaking news……

Everyone knows from the pleas for help that have appeared from the Troop repeatedly in recent months that we’ve been struggling with the Troop at the size it is with the feed through from two Cub packs only exacerbating the problem. We’ve put in place various processes and procedures to control things but being victims of our own success, we still continue to grow and could be starting the autumn term with a troop size of 50! Unbelievably and after much discussion we have agreed to open a second Troop night on Tuesdays from 7 – 9pm and our target is to begin after the October half term.

We’ll still need some buy in from you our parents to both make this possible and support our gallant leaders and we’ll be letting you know more details when we start again on Friday 12th September.
