Cubs Sixer and Seconder Camp
Our wonderful older Cubs worked hard this weekend. They showed tremendous teamwork in putting up the beautiful Icelandic tent, not a slacker in sight! They showed their sous chef skills by peeling and chopping all the vegetable for the soup, which they all tried for their lunch. Some eating vegetables they claimed not to like! We really loved their willingness to explore new foods.
The rope skills this camp focused on whipping, which the cubs were very adept at. They all demonstrated the concentration and dexterity needed. There were some brilliant examples!
The Cubs enjoyed a little cool off with a water bomb fight before preparing for the code cracking navigation game out in Bushy Park. There were clues to a riddle that needed to be de-coded and then solved in order to open the padlock for a prize. This sent them all over the park and built up an appetite for dinner. Naturally, we had a camp fire before bed.
Amazingly, the cubs were up, dressed and packed up without a word from us by 8am! Fire lighting skills were put to the test as the Cubs got their fires going for breakfast number two, bacon and eggs. Then it was all hands on deck for striking camp.
For us leaders, this was a lovely relaxed camp with capable and enthusiastic cubs. They will all go on to make super scouts when the time comes.
