3HH Scouts is registered with the Inland Revenue and is able to recover income tax on any subscriptions and donations.
This provides a great boost to our funds and helps keep the subs as low as possible – we can claim up to 25p for every £1 received at no cost to the parent. All parents who pay tax are encouraged to tick the Gift Aid box.
If you’re a UK taxpayer, your donations to 3HH Scouts could be worth more by adding Gift Aid. This is how to increase the value of your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you.
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme which lets us claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate.
Once you’ve signed up to Gift Aid, we claim the tax back on your donation.
It does not cost you anything to sign up to Gift Aid.
The Gift Aid scheme helps raise even more money for our activity programme for Young People.
In 2023 to 2024, we made £1,947 from Gift Aid on donations. Imagine how much more we could do if everyone who is eligible signed up.
For example, our subs are currently £150 per year, if you sign up to Gift Aid we could claim an extra £37.50 from the UK government.
That extra £37.50 would pay for one of the following:
You can apply Gift Aid to your donations if:
Log into your OSM account and follow the Gift Aid link … it’s really quite simple.
By the way, if you are not eligible for Gift Aid, please note it helps us to know. There is an option to decline which, when selected, tells us to stop reminding you about Gift Aid.
You can Gift Aid donations if you pay income tax or capital gains tax providing you have paid enough tax during the year to cover the amount we reclaim on your donations.
If you live on your pension alone and do not pay tax you will not be eligible for Gift Aid.
If you pay a higher rate of tax (40% or above) you can claim the difference between the higher and basic rate on the total value of your donation.
It’s important to let us know if you stop paying tax or if you change your name or address, so that we can update our records.
If you have any questions about Gift Aid, or if your circumstances change, please get in touch.
