3HH Gets Incredible Results in National Scout Rifle Championships

The results from the National Scout Rifle Championships 2024 are out! They provide the official national picture of our shooting ability on the day we shot the cards at 3HH (and had our own competition at the same time NSRC24 at 3HH | 3rd Hampton Hill).

The NSRC competition was postal this year and the categories are individual results, simply U14, U18 and adult. There are no team trophy awards. But as you all know I’m not that competitive, so I have added a little research as to what team trophies we may have won.

3HH and Peake always achieve something and this year was no exception, with two scouts in the medals. Scouts scores out of 100 are shown in brackets and special scores in red. Then there’s our estimation of the trophies and potential other medallists we would have had in a normal NSRC year.

• Rifle (springer) 6yd U14 out of 157: 9^th Matilda (73), 15^th Horatio (66), 29^th George (60), 38^th Digby (54), 46^th Lily (52), 50^th Tommy (51), 53^rd Gabriel (49), 85^th Sophie (37), 130^th Florence (22);
• Rifle (springer) 6yd U18 out of 86: 5^th Saken (87), 29^th Evie (63), 35^th Isaac (61), 38^th Olivia (60);
• Rifle (springer) 6yd Adult out of 52: 4^th Thomas (81, just 3 behind 1^st place), 13^th Wend (73), 15^th John (72), 30^th Bill (64), 45^th Maggie (49);
• Rifle (pcp) U14 out of 161: 2^nd Matilda (90, missing out on first place by 1 point), 3^rd George (88), 6^th Gabriel (85), 16^th Sophie (80), 18^th Lily (80), 47^th Digby (70), 68^th Horatio (64), 120^th Florence (47), 122^nd Tommy (46);
  • Previously there was an U12 category and in 2023 U12 1^st place scored 75, a massive well done to Sophie and Lily.
• Rifle (pcp) U18 and highly contested out of 80: 7^th Isaac (89, just 5 behind 1^st place), 10^th Evie (87), 16^th Saken (86), 43^rd Olivia (77)
  • Our scouts couldn’t have been much closer to each other!
• Rifle (pcp) Adult out of 91: 10^th Thomas (89), 23^rd Wend (85), 51^st Maggie (77), 59^th John (75), 88^th Bill (62);
• Pistol (pcp) U14 out of 113: 7^th Digby (81), 12^th Lily (77), 22^nd Matilda (75), 23^rd George (75), 24^th Tommy (74), 27^th Sophie (70), 50^th Florence (59), 53^rd Horatio (56), 82^nd Gabriel (43);
  • Not much to separate our top placed scouts!
• Pistol (pcp) U18 out of 86: 8^th Saken (84), 22^nd Evie (75), 42^nd Olivia (66), 53^rd Isaac (57);
• Pistol (pcp) Adult out of 76: 4^th Thomas (88), 17^th Wend (80), 25^th John (75), 27^th Maggie (74), 55^th Bill (60);

There ends the actual results and a huge well done to Matilda and George for their Silver and Bronze medals. Now for some more observations and team trophy ‘surmising’ although no team trophies or the related individual medals are being awarded…

• The Chief’s prize is only awarded to the scout U14 achieving the highest aggregate score, adding rifle, pistol and field target together. This year there was no official field target, so just adding pcp rifle and pistol together, out of 111 we had 5 scouts in the top 14, 3^rd Matilda, 5^th George, 9^th Lily, 13^th Digby and 14^th Sophie;
• Team pistol is comprised of each groups’ top three U14 scouts on the day, combined with the top adult. In 2023 3HH came 1^st with a score of 310, in 2024 we scored 321 with a team comprising, Digby, Lily, Matilda and Thomas;
• Team rifle is comprised of each groups’ top three U14 scouts on the day, combined with the top adult. In 2023 3HH came 2^nd with a score of 329, in 2024 we scored 347 with a team comprising, Matilda, George, Sophie and Thomas.
