Cubs at Walton Firs – 2025

Cubs Activity Day at Walton Firs

We had planned a camp for our Sixers and Seconders but that didn’t happen (more on that later). However, an integral part of the camp was an afternoon at Walton Firs, this part went ahead as planned.

I’d forgotten how noisy it is driving a mini-bus full of excited Young people. It’s a happy noise of course.

The Cubs launched themselves into every activity with heaps of enthusiasm. They built a cart, navigated an orienteering exercise to crack the code, played aeroball, and learned how to build a shelter in the woods.

They sent in some lovely feedback …

Quotes …

  • I liked shelter building because I enjoy survival and wildlife (Arel)
  • I loved Aero-ball because I’ve never played a sport on a trampoline before! (Ben)
  • I enjoyed the map reading activity as it was challenging and I had to problem solve to find the x’s on the map and around the camp! (Ollie)
  • My favourite part was probably Aero-ball because I nearly won but on the last game someone beat me (Bella)
  • It was all fun, especially the orienteering. (Abigail)

Worn out but still happy, the Cubs were a little more subdued on the return trip.

We’d love to do more of these sessions (and camps too) with our Cubs but we are constrained by the number of available adults we have at any one time. If you’re so inclined we’d love to have you on our team. No experience necessary. Come and have a brief chat with any leader at drop-off or pick-up. We’ll do our best to answer any questions and make a point of finding answers to anything we don’t know.
