“I’m a Cub, Get Me Out of Here!” 2023

Date: 28th Jun 2023 Author: Matt Rogers

We had 31 contestants brave enough to enter ‘I’m a Cub, get me out of here’ Camp. It was held on a sticky, hot 24th June, which was very fitting for the theme, chosen by our Cubs.

We had challenges galore! The blindfold bucket challenge (who knows what you are putting your hand into?), Slippery feet (barefoot in spaghetti hoops anyone?), Face full of munch (stinky!) and The cockroach catapult.

Naturally we had to have the dreaded Bush tucker trials…snails, frogspawn, swamp juice, and locusts were all on the menu. The heat was turned up even more with the hot sauce sandwich contest! Surprisingly the bugs were a culinary success! The extra crickets and meal worms were gobbled up in a feeding frenzy!

The craft of rope making was incredibly popular. There was barely a moment during the entire camp that a group of cubs were not spinning their yarn into rope.

The Cubs showed marvellous resilience and enthusiasm throughout, and it was an absolute pleasure to be with them. We gave out a whopping 11 Nights away 1 badges, extremely impressed with those Cubs making that first big step with us. Well done! A very special Nights away 10 badge was also received by an outstanding Cub, soon destined for Scouts. A great example to those younger.

A big thank you to our spectacular Scouts, who took time out from their Friday evening session to help us put up some of the tents. Great teamwork 3HH!

We all had fantastic fun, amazing support from parents during the activities and we are looking forward to the next one!
