Police investigate 3HH Beavers
Our Beaver session was especially exciting this Thursday as we welcomed visitors from the Twickenham Community Police. They spoke to us about the vital role they play in neighbourhood policing—preventing crime, addressing anti-social behaviour, building positive relationships, and supporting local residents.
The officers showed us the equipment they carry and explained how each item is used responsibly. From their walkie-talkies and cameras to batons, handcuffs, pepper spray and torches, the Beavers were fascinated. They were especially curious about the pepper spray and were surprised to learn that officers must experience it in training so they understand its effects.

The Beavers also explored the different types of police hats and helmets, discovering that walking-patrol officers wear a different style. They even had the chance to try some on! A fun role-play session followed, where the Beavers learned how police communicate using their radios.
Some of our Beavers dream of joining the police one day. They asked great questions about training—though a few were a bit worried about the pepper spray part!
Our Beavers have now promised to wave to the community police whenever they see them. This visit was a truly memorable experience and, as one parent said, “formative memories like these will stay with them for years to come.”
A huge thank-you to the Twickenham Community Police team for taking the time to visit and for supporting our Beavers as they work towards their My World badge.
