Richmond Scout District Rifle Competition 2025 Results!

Date: 8th Apr 2025 Author: Matt Rogers

This March, Richmond Scouts and Explorers descended on Twickenham Rifle Club for their annual air rifle target shooting competition. 3HH Scouts (two teams) and Peake ESU took part as usual and 3HH provided three Range Officers to help run the competition.

It’s tricky for our Scouts as we don’t practice in the format of this competition … bench resting at 10m and aiming at the middle! Nonetheless our Scouts acquitted themselves well. Each competitor shot three cards, 2x single-spot and 1x 5-spot, giving a maximum score of 150 per competitor. Teams are comprised of six shooters (and up to two reserves) with a maximum team score of 900.

Highlights …

Scouts – 13 teams

  • 3HH Talons (506) – 1st
  • 3HH Claws (203) – 12th

* Not bad considering Claws was only made of a team of 10 and 11 year olds!

Explorers – 6 teams

  • Peake ESU (329) – 6th

* Our team only had four competitors.

Scouts 12 & Under – 47 shooters

  • Lily J (102) – 2nd (just one behind 1st place)
  • Sophie F (79) – 6th
  • Horatio Y (79) – 6th
  • Tommy C (78) – 9th

Scouts 14 & Under – 33 shooters

  • Digby Y (109) – 1st

Explorers Under 18 – 34 shooters

  • Evie M (93) – 9th

* To my knowledge Evie was the only scout not to bench rest, so good!

Adults – 13 shooters

  • Wend (114) – 2nd
  • Maggie (106) – 4th

Overall individual scores out of 131 competitors, all ages combined

  • 3HH – Wend (114) – 4th
  • 3HH Talons – Digby (109) – 6th
  • 3HH – Maggie (106) – 8th
  • 3HH Talons – Lily Jenkin (102) – 16th

Congratulation to all our competitors and many thanks to the organisers, the Range Officers, and all the parents and Scout Leaders that made this event possible.
